Adopting from Russia
What Happens Next?

  1. AdoptionPros will look over your Registration set to make sure that everything is correct, before it is mailed to Moscow for translation, legalization and filing with the MOE. Filing the Registration set will complete your registration process with the Russian officials.
  2. After receiving your Registration set, the MOE department will begin the process of identifying a child for you.
  3. When the child is identified, you will be invited to travel to meet the child. Your first trip may take up to 5 days.
  4. If you accept the proposed child, your Petition will be filed with the court with the dossier documents.
  5. Your second trip to Russia will happen approximately 1-2 months after the first visit. Your adoption will be finalized during your second trip. You will stay in Russia for 7-12 days this time.
  6. After you arrive home with the child, send the Registration Card for your child to the Russian Consulate.
  7. Four post-placement reports are required after your adoption. Each report must be printed, notarized and apostilled before it's sent to AdoptionPros with 8 pictures of your child.
