Getting Started With Four Easy Steps

STEP ONE: HOME STUDY

Initiate your home study with a licensed adoption agency in your area. Your home study agency may handle your international adoption as well. Adoption Pros is licensed to provide home study services to Michigan residents. Adoption Pros provides international services to families nationwide as well as to non-citizens residing in the US or abroad.

STEP TWO: SUMBIT I-600A TO THE USCIS

Submit form I-600A to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. If you are a United States citizen, living in the United States or abroad, download the required forms from the USCIS web site or call 1-800-870-3676 to order I-600 packet if you are adopting from a non-Hague country.

STEP THREE: INTERNATIONAL DOSSIER

Start working on your international dossier under the guidelines provided by your international agency. Each country has different requirements for the dossier documents. Adoption Pros will guide you through the process by providing a country specific Dossier Packet. To expedite the overall adoption process, start your dossier documents collection while your home study is being completed by your home study agency. We advise to initiate Steps 1, 2, and 3 simultaneously.

STEP FOUR: FINALIZATION OF YOUR ADOPTION

You will be matched with a child by foreign officials based on the home study recommendation and your application. This usually happens after you submit your international dossier abroad. We recommend that you discuss the medical information on the referred child with medical professionals, relatives, and friends. Adoption is finalized abroad in a foreign court. Your personal presence during the matching process and court hearing is mandatory for most countries. The child will be granted a US visa after the court issues Adoption Decree.
