AdoptionPros will translate your documents, assemble the three dossier sets and submit them to the Kazakhstan Consulate in New York for authentication and registration.
Once the dossier sets are authenticated by the Kazakhstan Consulate, they will be shipped to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Almaty. The MFA will register your documents and send them to the Ministry of Education in Astana (MOE).
There will be some waiting time before the Ministry of Education invites you to travel. The Letter of Invitation is sent directly to the Kazakhstan Consulate in New York. You will also receive a copy. At this time you may apply for a visa to enter Kazakhstan and schedule your trip.
In the orphanage area you will meet with the MOE representative who will take you through the referral process. It is required that you visit the child in the orphanage for 14 days before your Adoption Petition is filed with the court. It will take approximately 3 weeks to finalize the adoption process after the court hearing.
You will most likely leave Kazakhstan for the United States after the court hearing. You may re-enter Kazakhstan in approximately 4 weeks to receive a US visa for your child. The second trip may take up to 4 days. Instead of the second trip, Adoption Pros offers an escort service to bring your adopted child home.
Even though you adopted child qualifies for the US citizenship on arrival home, he or she will remain a citizen of Kazakhstan until the age of 18. You will be required to register your child with the Kazakhstan Consulate and send the follow up reports to the Kazakhstan Consulate on an annual basis.
